Sea Eagles star Reuben Garrick and his fiancée Riley Wishart have made a purchase inland from Manly.

Garrick, a first home buyer, and Wishart, the daughter of Illawarra Steelers legend Rod Wishart, have spent $1,165,000 at Freshwater – just a few months after getting engaged.

The early 1970s apartment is 2 miles from Brookvale Oval – the only home base Garrick has known since starting his NRL career in 2019.

The two-bedroom top floor apartment had recently been renovated before being put on the market by Sea Freshwater agents James Smyth and John Lang.

After last selling in 2020 for $758,000, the apartment received a new bathroom, a kitchen with white stone countertops, an Italian gas stove, a Miele dishwasher and a custom laundry room.

The open plan living and dining room with kitchen has a breakfast area with sofas. The living room and master bedroom open onto a full-width north-facing balcony.

Garrick, 26, and Wishart got engaged at Jonah’s Whale Beach in February.

He signed with the Sea Eagles for the 2019 season after scoring 10 tries for St George Illawarra Dragons juniors in the 2018 NSW Cup.

At 26, Garrick is fifth on the Sea Eagles’ all-time points list with over 1,000 points.

He has a contract until the end of 2027 and is likely to reach club legend Graham Eadie’s 1917 points tally, which has been around since 1971.

Garrick’s captain, Daly Cherry-Evans, started his real estate journey in Freshwater in 2012 when he bought a two-bedroom apartment for $500,000, which he still has.

It was listed for rent in March last year for $700 per week through Cunninghams Real Estate – an increase on the October 2020 asking of $625, after initially renting in 2014 for $540 per week.
