VETS4VETS Golf Tournament

The first VETS4VETS golf tournament will be held at 10am with a shotgun start on Sunday, June 23 at Greenhills Country Club.

The cost is $75 per player in the four-person best ball scramble, with registration starting at 8:30 am.

Teams must have a minimum handicap of 50 and only one team member may have a handicap of 10 or less.

There are cash prizes for first, second and third place. Each person can purchase two mulligans for $10 and lunch will be provided.

Hole sponsorship costs $100 and there are prizes for the long drive, closest to the pin and longest putt.

All proceeds benefit veterans and veteran families with lifts, chairs, ramps, stair lifts, power chairs and more in Jackson County and the surrounding areas.

Wirt County Sports HOF Nominees Wanted

Nominations for the second class for the Wirt County Sports Hall of Fame are open through Friday, June 28.

Six inductees will be included for the Class of 2024, but the criteria used for the first class requiring nominees to be a native Wirt Countian no longer applies.

All 2024 nominees will be on an automatic transfer list for three years before they must be nominated again to be eligible for voting consideration by the committee.

Anyone wishing to nominate a former player, coach or someone who has served the community must provide their name, their phone number, the nominee’s name, phone number and email address, the nominee’s year of graduation (please note, if this is not Wirt County) and the reasons why he should do so. considered via email to [email protected].

MOVTA Summer Tennis Junior Matchplay

MOVTA sponsors Summer Tennis Junior Match Play led by Tyler Wright for middle school and high school players.

MOVTA wants to encourage friendly competition in the Mid-Ohio-Valley with the end goal of improving match play in our region. It is held from June 12 to July 31 (with the exception of July 3). The middle school play is from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM and the middle school play is from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM. Registrations are on the first day. It is held on the tennis courts of City Park. It is free. The shape will vary depending on the turnout.

Williamstown Offensive Skills Basketball Camp

The 34th annual Offensive Skills Basketball Camp will be held June 17-21 at Williamstown High School.

Campers in grades kindergarten through five will be present from 8 a.m. to noon. Campers in grades 6-9 will be present from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. On the first day, campers must arrive 15 minutes early for registration purposes. The cost is $100.
