Weather update: IMD warns of intense heatwave conditions over northern India;  light showers in NCR – India News

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) in its latest weather bulletin has forecast that heatwave conditions are expected to continue in northern India today and its impact will gradually diminish. On the contrary, extremely heavy rainfall is likely to occur over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Meghalaya and Assam.

Heat wave alert issued for eastern and western Uttar Pradesh

The IMD has issued a red alert for severe heatwave conditions in eastern Uttar Pradesh and western Uttar Pradesh. West Uttar Pradesh is likely to experience hot weather from June 20 to June 23, while West Uttar Pradesh will experience it today. After that, a decrease in heat intensity is expected. Delhi, Haryana and Chandigarh are likely to experience heatwaves from June 20 to June 23.

New Delhi is expected to have partly cloudy skies accompanied by very light rain, thunderstorms, lightning and dust storms.

IMD monsoon forecast

The Met department has also been monitoring the latest progress of the Southwest Monsoon, which is heading towards other areas of the North-West Bay of Bengal, Maharashtra, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Chhattisgarh. It is expected to reach Bihar, Jharkhand and remaining areas of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal within a few days.

Heavy rain in THESE states

The IMD has noted the presence of cyclonic circulation over northeastern Bangladesh in the lower troposphere region. This weather pattern is expected to result in isolated heavy rains in Manipur, Tripura, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Nagaland, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Assam and Sikkim in the coming days. In addition, two more cyclonic circulations have been established, one over coastal Andhra Pradesh and one over Gujarat. Under its influence, isolated heavy rainfall may occur in Madhya Maharashtra, coastal Karnataka, from June 20 to June 23.
