Think you saw a police car. No, it’s a ‘polite’ car

From a distance, this white multi-purpose vehicle is easily mistaken for a police patrol vehicle. But upon closer inspection, the words on the vehicle spell “polite,” not “police.” And when you scan the QR code on the side of the vehicle, you will be taken to the website of an ice cream parlor.

The ‘Polite Car’ has caught the attention of motorists, who posted photos of it on the SG Road Vigilante Facebook page on June 15, The Straits Times reported.

Netizens were divided in their opinions on the vehicle, with some noting that it is a good idea while others said it is “intentionally misleading” because it looks like a police car.

Speaking to The Straits Times, the vehicle’s owner, 32-year-old businessman Goh Yong Wei, said that since he put the stickers on his Toyota Alphard in May, other motorists have slowed down to give him priority on the road.

“As a driver and motorcyclist, I feel that the driving culture in Singapore is not friendly, especially during peak hours,” he said.
