Glastonbury starts the following day, when it is expected to be dry, settled and “consistently hot”.

A Met Office forecaster said on TikTok: “For the first time in June, it might feel like June.

“If the sun shines this week, temperatures will be low or even in the mid-twenties in some places.

“And yes, there are some early signs that it could get even warmer over the weekend and early next week.

“Glastonbury is further ahead, but these graphs suggest drier and warmer weather is more likely at this stage.”

But Brits will have to weather storms on Friday before glorious sunshine arrives this weekend.

Outbreaks of heavy rain will drench much of Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales and the west of England.

Elsewhere it will be largely dry with spells of very warm sunshine, forecasters said.

Today will be mainly dry with some warm spells of sunshine in the south and east of England.
