Sumona Chakravarti upset over not being included in Kapil Sharma’s Netflix show? Here’s the truth

For almost a decade, Sumona Chakravarti was an integral part of Kapil Sharma’s comedy show when it aired on the small screen from Comedy evenings with Kapil and later The Kapil Sharma Show. However, in March of this year, when the show moved to Netflix The Great India Kapil Showshe wasn’t part of the final cast and it seems like she definitely misses the fandom that the show brought with it.

Sumona Chakravarti played the character of Kapil Sharma’s wife, Manju, in his comedy show.

In a recent interview, Sumona said: “Those were great ten years of my life. One project was over so he (Kapil) went ahead and started another project and I am working on another project. That’s all there is to it. As for missing, they are my colleagues. I have drawn a line between my personal and professional life. I don’t take my work home with me and I don’t bring my private life to work.”

Now we’ve learned that Sumona is not only unaffected but also quite upset about not being included in the show: “She expected the entire cast to be retained for the digital version of the show, but she didn’t get a call from Kapil. And when Sunil (Grover) rejoined the show, Kapil took only Krushna (Abhishek) and Kiku (Sharda) with him,” says a source.

The source further adds that Sumona was surprised by this development and it was difficult for her to cope with the shock. “She always thought the jokes about her dialogue delivery and style were limited to having fun on the show, but she never thought it would go beyond that and affect the casting process. She was initially very angry and is still quite angry about what happened, but she has chosen to deal with it by keeping quiet and not talking about it,” the source claims.

Furthermore, it was her interactions with the media that made Sumona feel even worse about the current situation. “She is always asked about her absence from Kapil’s show and the fact that she has not left voluntarily triggers her even more and acts like salt in the wound. Although she does not hold any grudge against Kapil, they have not spoken since,” says the insider.

Sumona is currently shooting for a reality show Khatron Ke Khiladi, and because she wasn’t prepared for what happened, she decided to take whatever came her way. “That (sudden departure) is why Sumona took over KKK, otherwise that was never the plan in Sumona’s mind. She spends most of her time talking to more and more people, networking and finding work as Kapil’s show was the only main thing related to her life for almost a decade,” the source ends.

We reached out to Sumona and Kapil for comment but did not receive a response until press time.
