High heat continues into weekend – Indianapolis News | Weather Indiana | Indiana traffic

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Heat indices will hover around 100° for the next few days.

This morning:

It’s another balmy morning with dew points in the upper 60s and lower 70s. Temperatures will remain in the low 70s this morning and some areas of fog have been observed.

Thursday:

This afternoon will be another hot and humid day, with highs in the low to mid 90s and heat indices in the mid to high 90s. We can’t rule out an isolated storm, but we think it will be very few will be among them.

Thursday evening:

Tonight will be another calm and muggy night, with lows dipping into the low to mid 70s.

Friday:

The upper ridge remains over the eastern half of the country, causing extreme heat to continue on Friday. High temperatures will climb back into the mid-90s and heat indices will be near 100° Friday afternoon.

This weekend:

The heat will continue all weekend. Expect sunshine Saturday with highs in the mid-90s and heat indices around 100° before noon. Highs will be closer to the upper 80s and lower 90s on Sunday, thanks to some cloud cover ahead of a cold front that will move through the area to round out the weekend. That cold front could also bring some scattered showers and thunderstorms Sunday afternoon and evening.

8-day forecast:

The heat won’t be as extreme after Monday’s cold front as highs return to the mid 80s, still warm enough for this time of year. We will likely see temperatures return to near 90 degrees by the middle of next week, with some storm chances possible for Tuesday and Wednesday.
