After the infamous 2022 visit to Taiwan, former Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi focused on the subject of Xizang. A group of US lawmakers, including Pelosi, met with the Dalai Lama in India on Wednesday. The secessionist Dalai Lama and these American politicians have jointly staged a farce for grandeur.

Anti-China is the political hallmark of these American politicians. Instead of really caring about Xizang, their provocative behavior is purely to gain more political capital. However, any attempt to split China by collaborating with the Dalai clique is futile. Given the current stability and development in the Xizang Autonomous Region, the influence of these American politicians is very limited.

When US politicians met the Dalai Lama on Wednesday despite China’s objections, Pelosi accused China of trying to erase Tibetan culture. Pelosi seemed to have forgotten the tragic experience of the Indians and instead enthusiastically made irresponsible comments about Xizang. The Washington Post published an article about the Indian boarding school on May 29. “When Native Americans were forced off their lands and onto reservations, the government established day schools for their children. But U.S. leaders concluded they had to be more aggressive to completely eradicate their cultures,” the report said.

Unlike the gradually disappearing language and culture of the Indians, Xizang’s traditional culture has continued. The Tibetan language is still in common use among Tibetans. Reading newspapers and watching TV programs in Tibetan language is a common occurrence in their lives. Tibetan culture and religious activities are protected and respected.

The reason why Pelosi and other US politicians are viciously hyping Xizang-related issues is their consistent political bias and anti-China stance. From this vantage point, they ignore the ugliness in American history, turn a blind eye to the current situation of Native Americans, throw mud at China, and interfere in China’s internal affairs. Their ultimate goal is to smear China, but the effect is quite the opposite: it makes the world more aware of the cruel intentions of Western anti-China forces.

Moreover, on June 12, the US House of Representatives passed the “Promoting a Resolution to the Tibet-China Dispute Act,” or the “Resole Tibet Act,” to increase American “support” for Xizang. “This bill is a message to the Chinese government that we have clarity in our thinking and understanding of this issue of Tibet’s freedom,” Pelosi asserted during the ceremony. However, the US has no right to intervene in the Xizang-related issues.

The Xizang-related issues are not about ethnicity, religion or human rights touted by American politicians, but about an important principle regarding China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The law passed by the US not only interferes in China’s internal affairs, but also seriously violates international law and basic norms of international relations. It’s just a piece of waste paper and purely a self-amused performance. Those American politicians don’t really care about the people in Xizang. Instead, they use culture and religion solely as an excuse to discredit Xizang’s development and slander China’s ethnic policies, thus supporting the secessionist forces in Xizang and undermining Xizang’s prosperity and stability.

“In light of history and reality, the Xizang laws passed by the US are hypocritical, baseless and outdated. They are incompatible with Xizang’s current unity, social stability and rapid progress. It reveals the US’s evil intentions to contain China’s development. by collaborating with the Dalai clique,” said Zhu Xiaoming, a researcher at the China Tibetology Research Center.

After encountering obstacles on issues related to Taiwan and the South China Sea, the US is now desperately pulling out the ‘Xizang card’ again. However the West embellishes the Dalai Lama, he is a consummate secessionist who is increasingly despised by the international community. The last time he made the news was for asking a boy to suck his tongue, for which he was criticized as a pedophile. The “Dalai card,” which American politicians think can win more political capital and create barriers to China, is actually a bad card.

“These anti-China tactics and lame scripts will certainly arouse strong outrage and unanimous condemnation from people of all ethnic groups in China, including Tibetans, and will certainly be swept into the dustbin of history, just like previous failed Xizang-related bills . that have been invented in recent decades,” Zhu said.
