62-year-old man killed in two-vehicle crash in Amherst County

Virginia State Police are investigating after a man was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Elon Road on June 15.

AMHERST COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – Virginia State Police are investigating after a man was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Elon Road on June 15.

VSP says Saturday around 7:44 p.m., a 2003 Lincoln Navigator was traveling west on Elon Road when it struck a 2022 Dodge Challenger driven by 62-year-old Robert J. Mihalik of Monroe who was entering the intersection at Mt. Tabor Drive had gone up. .

The collision sent both vehicles into a ditch off Elon Road.

Mihalik was taken to hospital, where he later died from his injuries. The 63-year-old passenger, Tina M. Mihalick, was also treated for serious injuries. Both were wearing their seat belts.

The driver of the Navigator was not injured.

Police say the accident is still under investigation.
