🔴LIVE: Denmark draw with brilliant equalizer

🔴LIVE: Denmark draw with brilliant equalizer

EURO 2024 goes from strength to strength, with three big matches left to enjoy from Thursday’s group stage.

Check back regularly for updates.

Denmark 1-1 England

Scorers: Hjulmand 34′; Kane 18′

Denmark had the first half chance of an even start, with Pierre-Emile Højbjerg shooting straight at Jordan Pickford from outside the penalty area after being trapped by Rasmus Højlund.

Phil Foden had the first opening for England, receiving the ball from Kyle Walker and ringing it past a Danish defender. Unfortunately for him, his curled shot went high and wide of Kasper Schmeichel’s goal.

England took the lead in the 18th minute through Harry Kane. Victor Kristiansen made a mess of handling a ball, allowing Kyle Walker to deliver a low cross that eventually found its way to the captain for a simple finish.

Despite falling behind, the Danes responded very well, passing the ball sharply and looking threatening when they went forward.

They got the goal their play deserved, with Morten Hjulmand taking advantage of a Kane mispass and firing a brilliant strike past Jordan Pickford from 25 yards out. It was the Sporting midfielder’s first goal for his country.

Denmark finished the half the stronger side, with Højbjerg and Højlund teaming up again for the former to test Pickford’s gloves.

Serbia keeps hopes alive with a late draw

Scorers: Karničnik 69′; Jovic 90+5′

Serbia have kept their Euro 2024 hopes alive after a late 1-1 draw with Slovenia in Munich.

Dragan Stojković’s side started better, but it was Slovenia who had the first chance when Adam Čerin forced Predrag Rajković into an early stop.

The Eagles eventually rallied when Dušan Vlahović produced a diving header into the penalty area for Jan Oblak to collect.

Slovenia came closest through Timi Elšnik who hit the post from distance before Benjamin Šeško narrowly turned the follow-up over the bar.

At the other end, Oblak’s clever goalkeeper denied Aleksandar Mitrović, who also came up short against the Atlético de Madrid stopper early in the second half.

Žan Karničnik finally broke the deadlock with just over twenty minutes to go, sliding Elšnik’s throw towards the far post.

Mitrović tried to regain balance with a big effort from inside, but saw the cannon shoot back off the crossbar.

But Serbia scored an equalizer in the fifth minute of extra time when Luka Jović headed home to deny Matjaž Kek’s side a first-ever European Championship victory.
