Woman dies in crash on Atlantic City Expressway

A woman died after a crash on the Atlantic City Expressway on Saturday evening.

NJ State Police responded to the crash

NJ State Troopers responded to a crash on the Atlantic City Expressway of a Nissan SUV at approximately 10:30 PM on Saturday, June 16 near milepost 38.3 westbound in Winslow Township.

Police say the Nissan was traveling westbound when it sideswiped an unoccupied, disabled Honda on the right shoulder of the road.

The crash caused the vehicle to overturn

The collision between the vehicles caused the Nissan SUV to overturn, according to police, and the driver, Ashley Pitts, 37, of Camden, was ejected from the vehicle.

New Jersey State Police said Pitts died from injuries she suffered in the crash.

The incident remains under investigation by NJ State Police.
