Latest election: crowd shouts ‘shame’ as PM endures tough end to latest TV showdown | Political news

Following his strong response to the gambling scandal, Rishi Sunak has surprisingly struggled to answer Fiona Bruce’s persistent questions about his national service proposals.

You would think he would have better prepared answers about a flagship election policy.

He is also very dismissive of an audience member who says Brexit has been a disaster for young people.

He sounds irritated and says these arguments were discussed in 2016, and he won’t discuss them again.

“I come from an NHS family,” Mr Sunak then tells a questioner about NHS waiting lists.

Real? Never known. (At least this time we didn’t get “my father was a toolmaker” from Sir Keir.)

Like Sir Keir, Mr Sunak is facing detailed questions on issues such as the NHS. More details!

And surprisingly, he hasn’t attacked Labor on tax yet!

However, he will be pleased that he was asked about the Tory betting scandal early on. He had a strong response that will make headlines.

So far, I’m not sure much more from Mr Sunak will either.
