Summer may have only just begun, but before we know it, fall will be here. And as usual, Southern California’s Disneyland Resort will be the absolute best place to celebrate all that the spooky season has to offer when Halloween Time returns at Disneyland Resort from August 23 to October 31, 2024.

During these colder months, guests of all ages can enjoy returning favorites and new offerings, ensuring fun for everyone from those seeking light-hearted scares to those honoring time-honored traditions. The Halloween Time celebration will enchant visitors with festive seasonal decor, Halloween-themed attractions, special entertainment and an abundance of themed treats.

Disneyland Park

At Disneyland Park, Mickey Mouse and friends are debuting brand new Halloween costumes for this year’s celebration. Meanwhile, the “Mickey’s Trick and Treat” show will entertain daytime guests for the first time at Disney California Adventure Park.

Efforts are underway to expand the grounds of the classic Haunted Mansion attraction, meaning that when it returns in its happiest form as Haunted Mansion Holiday, it will use only a virtual queue. Year after year, guests enjoy Jack Skellington’s takeover of the Christmas holidays, delivering a fantastic mix of Halloween-meets-Christmas joy. As always, the beloved annual overlay inspired by “Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas” will feature a fresh gingerbread house design in the center of the ballroom scene.

The spooky evenings will bring the nighttime spectacle of “Halloween Screams,” summoning Disney villains from the ether through spooky projections and special effects at Sleeping Beauty Castle, “it’s a small world,” the Rivers of America and Main Street , USA, with a special bonus of additional fireworks on select nights.

Disney California adventure park

Disney California Adventure Park will transform with Halloween-themed decorations, including the Headless Horseman statue on Buena Vista Street. Radiator Springs becomes Radiator Screams, featuring Halloween-themed versions of two attractions: Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween and Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree. Avengers Campus also offers the “Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark” mission every night.

This year, “Mickey’s Trick and Treat” comes to the Disney Theater during the day for the first time. The interactive show follows Mickey and his friends as they celebrate a not-so-scary Halloween with spooky stories and mixing magical potions. Led by a host dressed as a mad scientist, the little ones and their parents can dance along to the whimsically crazy songs.

Plaza de la Familia

At Disney California Adventure Park, the Plaza de la Familia will celebrate Día de los Muertos from August 23 to November 2, 2024. This event will feature Mexican cuisine, vibrant decorations and entertainment celebrating family bonds and traditions. At the same time, the show will introduce a new name, storyline and costumes in honor of Pixar Animation Studios’ film “Coco.”

Other Día de los Muertos celebrations can be found throughout the resort. In Disneyland Park’s Frontierland, the area around Rancho del Zocalo Restaurante is decorated with beautiful marigolds, brightly colored floral elements and skeletal figures, as well as other decorations typical of traditional ofrendas. Miguel from “Coco” also visits guests at this location several times a day.

Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween party

Another beloved part of Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort is Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party, a separately paid after-hours event that returns this year with more nights than ever before. The special festivities take over Disney California Adventure Park on 27 select nights between August 25 and October 31.

This is the one place where all guests are invited to wear their Halloween costumes to the park where they will enjoy an evening of themed food and drinks, rides, entertainment, treat trails, the “Frightfully Fun Parade” and the immersive villains Grove walkthrough experience. Guests at this special event will also receive access to Disney California Adventure Park three hours before the party starts. Inspire Inspire Magic Key holders will be the first to purchase tickets starting June 25, but access will go on sale to the general public in June. 27.

Downtown Disney District

Just outside the park gates, the Downtown Disney District will also have spirited Halloween decor, seasonal entertainment, limited-time shopping, food and drink and other themed offerings. This year’s decorative installations feature oversized pumpkins in a variety of vibrant colors that make ideal photo backdrops. For family-friendly fun, guests will participate in Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit and join Disney characters on a hunt for hidden pumpkins. For the first time ever, they will also find pumpkins scattered throughout Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park, with each park offering its own individual activity cards for sale.
