The proposed budget will be tabled at next Monday night’s monthly council meeting for June, with projected expenditures of $50.7 million and revenues of $52.2 million, resulting in a net operating surplus of $1.51 million.

Devonport Mayor Alison Jarman says rates have only increased by 10.3 per cent in three years, well below the inflation rate of 15.7 per cent for the same period, reflecting good financial management by the council.

Key spending items include $15.25 million for the start of the new indoor sports stadium near the Devonport Oval and $10.36 million for stormwater and road improvements.
