Spain have booked their place in the knockout stages of Euro 2024, but top spot is not guaranteed ahead of the clash with Albania.

A dominant display, which was not reflected in the result, saw La Roja beat Italy 1-0 to become the second team in the last 16 after hosts Italy.

But Albania are fighting for their lives and need to take points from Spain to keep their hopes alive, even as the best third-placed team, after gaining one point in the first two games.

Team news between Albania and Spain

Veteran midfielder Klaus Gjasula may be kept in reserve despite his heroics off the bench in Albania’s last match.

Armando Broja was dropped from the attack, but Rey Manaj faces a battle to keep his place.

Aymeric Laporte returned to the Spanish team against Italy, causing Nacho to drop out. The centre-back had not trained with his teammates before the match, so it may be unlikely that he will return to action four days later.

There shouldn’t be too many other changes with first place on the line, but the pack needs some shuffling to keep the legs fresh.

Spain have looked extremely impressive in their first two games. Although the goals against Italy were not as good as against Croatia, they still had plenty of chances.

Albania are entertaining, but are not the most progressive team. They also have to attack La Roja, and could very well be eliminated.
