Did Donald Trump ‘reject’ Nigel Farage in Milwaukee? It seems so and he’s being ridiculed for it

It was the whole reason why the Reform UK leader was not in the House of Commons to debate the Speech from the Throne and represent his constituents in Clacton, but it turns out Nigel Farage’s trip to America to support Donald Trump may not have led to his actual victory. meeting the Republican presidential candidate he considers a friend.

After the former US president survived an assassination attempt in Pennsylvania last week, the new lawmaker told GB News he would fly across the pond to support Trump at the Republican National Convention (RNC) in Milwaukee, where the businessman formally accepted the GOP nomination and announced JD Vance as his running mate for vice president.

Speaking to Tom Harwood on Sunday, he said: “I’m flying to America this week, I’m going to visit my friend… I’ll be listening to his acceptance speech on Thursday and I’ll be doing it, not just as a friend, but I’ll be doing it because we’ve got to stand up to democracy.

“We have to stand up for people so they can campaign.”

And in a brief interview with Channel 4 News on Thursday, in which he gave curt answers to Washington correspondent Siobhan Kennedy, Farage replied with “no, I haven’t,” “yes” and “I don’t know” when asked if he had seen Trump, whether he would, and when the public would be with the politician.

He also defended his decision to travel to the US rather than represent the electorate of Clacton, telling Sky News sarcastically: “You’re right, I should be working eight days a week and never have a day off.”

Well, it’s quite unusual to go on holiday for a week after starting a new job, Nigel.

But despite planning to meet Trump in the US, it appears the pair never actually had a chat, as Farage – always a fan of a photo opportunity – failed to share a picture of himself with the presidential candidate on social media, while Trump was filmed boarding a plane on Friday after attending the RNC.

Uncomfortable.

It is therefore no surprise that Twitter/X users are taking the opportunity to mock Farage for being ignored by his buddy:

And this isn’t the only wild story to come out of the RNC, as former Prime Minister Liz Truss was caught telling convention attendees about shower heads (yes, really), while other attendees were spotted wearing bandages around their right ears — like the ones Trump wore after a bullet grazed the side of his head during last week’s assassination attempt — as a sign of solidarity.
