Maharashtra Weather News: Heavy rain expected in Mumbai, several districts

Mumbai and several other districts in Maharashtra are witnessing heavy rainfall. According to the Meteorological Department, the intensity of the rainfall is expected to increase in the next three to four hours. The weather department has issued warnings and alerts for several districts in the state.

Rain warnings issued for several districts

The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for Ratnagiri, Bhandara, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Gondia and Satara, predicting heavy rainfall. In addition, Palghar, Thane, Raigad, Sindhudurg, Pune, Amravati, Nagpur and Wardha have been put under an orange alert. Thunderstorms and gusty winds are also expected in these regions. Other districts such as Ahmednagar, Jalna, Parbhani, Hingoli and Nanded have also been issued rain warnings.

Rain warning for Pune

Pune is expected to experience light showers today with heavy rainfall in isolated pockets on the Ghats, as forecast by the meteorological department. Konkan and Vidarbha regions are also likely to see heavy rainfall. The coastal areas of Konkan have been experiencing continuous heavy rainfall for the past week. The meteorological department has issued a red alert for six districts in the state due to the significant rainfall.

More rainfall forecast for Mumbai

Mumbai has been experiencing rains since midnight, leading to waterlogging in low-lying areas. The Meteorological Department has predicted a significant increase in rainfall in the coming hours. Citizens are advised to remain cautious and vigilant due to the expected heavy rainfall.

Since this morning, heavy rains have caused two to three feet of water logging in the Andheri Subway, leading to its closure for traffic. Similar waterlogging problems have been reported in other low-lying areas of Mumbai.

Rain forecast for the next four days

The weather department has predicted light to moderate rainfall in Mumbai till July 22.
