5 Essential Overland Gear You Don’t Want to Leave at Home

5 Essential Overland Gear You Don’t Want to Leave at Home

Good all-terrain tires are a must for overlanding — you don’t have to go off-road in mud and snow with street tires. However, there are times when you’ll need to deflate your tires to gain more control while riding through sand and excessively rocky terrain. Before you hit the road again, however, you’ll want to inflate them to the proper PSI, and doing this one tire at a time can be time-consuming. Speedflate has come up with a cool design that allows you to inflate and deflate your tires simultaneously. Plus, you don’t have to worry about inflating one tire more than the other because the machine’s lines equalize the pressure between all four tires. Keep in mind that this unit is just the lines; it does not include the actual air compressor.

This handy device costs $160, has a 300 PSI rating, and fits up to a 145-inch wheelbase. The website doesn’t list any reviews for the device, but a few YouTubers have written reviews that show how fast and easy the Speedflate is. Bold Canyon Outdoors demonstrated the lines’ capabilities on his Jeep Wrangler. In the video, you can clearly see how quickly and easily he was able to deflate his tires to 19 pounds. When he went back to inflate the tires, it obviously took a little longer, but since he was able to inflate all four tires at once using a single pressure gauge, it could be a game-changer for an overland camping experience.
