JAMMU, July 20: The J&K Private Schools Association in Jammu has appealed to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Secretary School Education Alok Kumar to personally intervene and address the issue regarding affiliation of the schools and their access to the official portal.
Speaking to media representatives present here today, the central executive members of the association complained that the J&K school board, despite being recognised by the Ministry of Education, is delaying the affiliation of a number of such schools without giving any reason and is not allowing these schools to access the official portal for migration of students.
“Despite completing all formalities and norms, except depositing the fees, the status of these schools has been put in the ‘deregistered/pending’ category by the JKBOSE while online access has also been denied to these institutions,” said Ajay Gupta, president of the association.
He added that these schools do not have online access and therefore cannot upload or approve migration/admission for all students who wish to migrate or who wish to apply to other schools.
PSA Secretary General Sat Paul Mansotra said the government has recognised the school until March 2027, 2028 and 2029, but JKBOSE is reluctant to affiliate these schools based on their recognition.
Ajay Gupta appealed to the Lt Governor to intervene and save the schools from alleged intimidation and exploitation.
Others, who were present at the press conference, included Deepak Handa (Sr Vice President), Ajay Singh, Sanjeev Luthra, Gaurav Charak, Dr. Madan Mohan, Vineet Gupta, Vishal Singh, Rajat Kesar, Deep Dayal, Shabir Malik, Naresh Kumar, Romesh Gupta, Bodh Raj, Rajeev Jasrotia, Vishal Jamwal and Thomas Omman.
Meanwhile, the J&K Board of School Education today issued a handout stating that necessary affiliation orders will be issued shortly in favour of the institutions in J&K, which have been recommended by the Affiliation Committee during its meeting held on July 1, 2024.
“These institutions will be given sufficient time to apply for the services of the board, in accordance with the norms, and will be given a new payment term for the fee, starting with the normal prescribed fee,” the statement said.
