It has been quite apparent that FC Barcelona have lacked too much signing power in recent windows. The Catalan club has been greatly limited by financial fair play and it has had an adverse impact on their transfer operations. This summer, however, Barcelona seem to have high aspirations.

In recent weeks, beyond just the great interest in Nico Williams, Barcelona have now reportedly been involved in another operation as well.

The 26-year-old RB Leipzig star Dani Olmo, hailed as ‘magnificent’ by Ally McCoist for his contributions to the Spanish national team during their Euro-winning campaign, is now also rumored to be on Barça’s agenda as the Catalan club looks to sign both of the Spanish forwards simultaneously.

However, it was previously confirmed by various outlets that Olmo had an active release clause worth €60 million. This valuation was a good sign for many potential suitors, including Barcelona. Unfortunately, it appears that no club managed to take advantage of it.

Instead, negotiations will now have to be done directly with RB Leipzig if Olmo’s signing is to be secured given that the deadline for the release clause has passed. However, this operation will likely be extremely expensive, and the figures now being reported are nothing less than extravagant.

According to Philipp Hinze, the ‘Olmo package’ will be an expensive one for any club that is interested in signing him. Reportedly, by taking into account the transfer fee, signing fee, and other values such as the salary of the player, the overall package would cost around €100 million.

That would directly mean that any club, including Barcelona, would have to devote a lot of their resources to take Olmo away from Leipzig. As long as the player wants the move himself, however, his current team would be willing to facilitate his departure.

Recent reports have even suggested that negotiations between Barça and Olmo are on the right track as of right now. While the operation is still far from concluded, good progress has been made between all parties involved and the Catalan club is hopeful about retrieving this former La Masia talent.

As for Nico Williams, it seems that the operation is comparatively advanced. Many reputable sources have already confirmed the links and connections between Barça and the Athletic Club winger. All that is left now is to put pen to paper and wrap up a deal that has attracted a lot of fan interest as well.
