Did Kapil Sharma ‘Fire’ Sumona Chakravarti From His Show? She Says ‘It’s So Weird…’ | Exclusive

Did Kapil Sharma ‘Fire’ Sumona Chakravarti From His Show? She Says ‘It’s So Weird…’ | Exclusive

Sumona Chakravarti is finally back in India after shooting for Khatron Ke Khiladi 14 in Romania. While she was away, a report did the rounds claiming that she had not left The Kapil Sharma Show of her own free will but rather she had preferred not to be informed about the comedian’s new show, The Great Indian Kapil Show. It was also alleged that Sumona was disheartened and “angry” with Kapil. However, the former Bade Achhe Lagte Hai actress has now clarified that this is not the case.

In an exclusive chat with News18 Showsha, Sumona Chakravarti made it clear that she was not fired from Kapil Sharma’s show. “It’s so weird because literally a few days ago there was a really beautiful article. I had spoken to a journalist and said the exact opposite. Then of course two days later another publication decided to do an article saying the exact opposite. I had nothing to say because I was also in Romania,” she said.

“I have said this before, I was part of a show which ended in July last year and it is not like you left or I got fired, the show ended in July and then we all moved on. Then we took up our own projects. I am doing Khatron Ke Khiladi. He (Kapil Sharma) did another show. It’s just that there is no bad blood at all. Why should I be angry (with Kapil)? He and I have worked before and I went to Romania,” she said.

When asked if she gets discouraged when she reads negative messages about herself, the 36-year-old actress explained: “Not anymore. Back in the day, maybe 20 years ago, when I started my career, maybe then. Now I’m too old for this. And I have a very simple phrase that I say quite often and I will repeat it now: Your opinion of me is not my responsibility.”

Though Sumona wasn’t a part of The Great Indian Kapil Show, she will soon be seen in Khatron Ke Khiladi 14, which is set to premiere on July 27. Speaking about it, the actress said, “I surprised myself, to be honest. So yes, I have. I mean, looking back, I am very excited that the show is coming on air because I want to see myself. I want to see how I did it, what I did.”
