Weather forecast for Coventry and Warwickshire as the UK basks in the sun in August

Long-range forecasters predict that the sun will continue to shine next month. Forecasters think that August will be sunny and dry, especially at the beginning of the month, as the outlook looks stable.

According to early indications from AccuWeather, August won’t be quite as warm, but the mercury is likely to peak at 24C at various points, mainly between August 9 and 12, The Mirror reports. This is about average for the time of year in the UK.

The Met Office’s long-term forecast for 4-8 August is: “Throughout the period, drier than average conditions are more likely than wetter than average. Warmer than average conditions are also generally weakly favoured, with a slightly increased likelihood of short-duration heatwaves.”

Friday (July 18) was the hottest day of 2024 so far, with temperatures reaching 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit) in the southeast and east of England. AccuWeather says temperatures will range between 22 and 24 degrees Celsius (72 and 75 degrees Fahrenheit) throughout August, with southern regions generally seeing the warmest weather.

Last week, parts of the East Midlands, East England, London and the South East of England were placed under yellow heat health warnings from Thursday to Saturday. Authorities warned that the expected warm weather could have minor consequences. The most vulnerable in England have been advised to stay in the shade where possible. Other tips include covering up and wearing sunglasses, and ensuring children wear at least factor 30 sunscreen.

Coventry will see a mostly dry and sunny day today, but it will feel cooler with a high of 20C. This evening will become increasingly cloudy with some rain towards sunrise, with a low of 13C.
