Singaporean actor Ayden Sng has a new look for the upcoming Chinese fantasy series Lin Jiang Xian, also known in English as There Is A Fox In Hengmen.

On July 19, Chinese screenwriter and producer Yu Zheng, who directs Lin Jiang Xian, posted a series of character stills from the xianxia epic. Xianxia is a genre of Chinese fantasy influenced by Chinese mythology, folk religion, and martial arts featuring heavenly beings, demons, and more.

One of the stills is of Sng, 30, who plays a supporting character named Long Yuan. While Sng is known for his contemporary style and boyish good looks, he looks very different here.

Sporting long hair and a gold headdress, Sng is seen in a fantasy costume of dark blue, light blue, and cream, with details like a belt and sleeves that look like dragon scales. And perhaps most notably, he wears a gold-and-silver dragon on one shoulder, matching his character’s last name, “Long,” which means dragon in Chinese.

Sng is signed to Mediacorp and has starred in local series such as All That Glitters (2023). He posted on his social media accounts such as Weibo and Instagram in April that he had started filming Lin Jiang Xian in Hengdian, China. The fantasy romance stars Chinese actress Bai Lu and Chinese actor Zeng Shunxi.

Sng plays a student of Zeng’s character, who harbors animosity towards Bai’s character.

Sng wrote on Weibo at the time: “I never thought I would be able to participate in a xianxia drama, a genre I watched as a child. I look forward to the coming months and the new and refreshing experiences it brings.

“Being an actor is a long journey, but all the ‘firsts’ I’ve experienced have helped me move forward and I hope that the further I go, the longer and more interesting my path as an actor will be.”

This is Sng’s second project in China, following his participation in the costume drama series Perfect Match, which wrapped filming in April but has not yet aired.

His entry into the Chinese market is part of a partnership announced in September 2023 between Mediacorp’s artist management arm The Celebrity Agency and China’s production company, Huanyu Entertainment – founded by Yu – to create global opportunities for their respective talents. Under the partnership, Huanyu will represent Sng and Singaporean actresses Chantalle Ng and Hong Ling in their pursuit of opportunities in China.
