‘You’re never too old for anything’: Cobra Kai’s William Zabka reveals being on the show has kept him ‘in shape’

It’s an ambiguous time for fans of the Netflix original series Cobra Kai. Creators released the first five episodes of the karate show’s final season on July 17. Original Karate Kid star William Zabka returned to play the role of Johnny Lawrence for the Netflix original series. With the release of Cobra Kai Season 6: Part 1, Johnny Lawrence is opening up about how the show has helped him stay fit.

The streaming giant also announced that the final season will be released in three parts, with parts 1 and 2 set to release in 2024. Part 3 doesn’t have a release date yet, but is set to arrive in 2025.

But ahead of Season 6’s release, Zabka reveals what this iconic character has done for him. William Zabka will always be the blond villain in Karate Kid; like his character, he remains iconic. But being the mysterious teacher comes with its own sensitivities.

To do the role justice, the actors have to undergo rigorous training, but if Zabka is to be believed, it will pay off in the future. The actor mused on how life-changing the role has been, both professionally and personally.

William Zabka shares how the show has kept him fit

The Back-To-School actor spoke to People about how he and his screen buddy Ralph Macchio stay fit in their late 50s. William, who is 58, said, “You have to be an athlete to do this show, and it’s kept us in shape. Even though it’s an ‘I’m too old for this,’ it’s also like, ‘Hey, you’re never too old for anything.'”

William Zabka and Ralph Macchio have continued to reprise their roles as their iconic characters Johnny Lawrence and Daniel LaRusso since first stepping into the roles four decades ago in 1984’s The Karate Kid. Macchio also agreed with his co-star, reflecting on how he thought he’d never have to go through the grueling fitness phase again.

Ralph also gives himself a pat on the back and is definitely proud of how he has stayed fit at the age of 62. He also said that the basic martial arts training played a crucial role in bridging that discipline and aiding his fitness journey.

But karate isn’t the only thing William Zabka does to stay fit. The actor enjoys outdoor activities and often goes surfing or rafting with his kids. He also said that scuba diving is another activity he enjoys and that it helps him stay fit. Zabka also expressed his excitement about the final season of Cobra Kai and hinted at many twists that will keep fans engaged.
