National Capital Witnesses Light Rain, More Downpour Expected For Two Days

The sky remained cloudy throughout the day on Sunday in the national capital. There was also light rain in many areas in the morning. Due to the showers, the temperature dropped by one degree Celsius as compared to Saturday. This brought relief from the humidity, however, the temperature remained two degrees Celsius higher than normal.

The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for two days for Delhi-NCR, with light to moderate rain prediction. According to the Weather Department, the sky will be cloudy on Monday. Light to moderate rainfall is expected. The rain may also cause a drop in the temperature by nearly 2.5 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature is likely to be 34 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature is likely to be 27 degrees Celsius.

According to the Meteorological Department, 7 mm rainfall was recorded in Delhi between 5:30 am and 8:30 am. During this period, Lodhi Road received the maximum rainfall of 10.2 mm, while Aya Nagar received 7 mm rainfall. Between 8:30 am and 5:30 pm, Ridge area received 1.2 mm rainfall, Delhi University received 4 mm rainfall, Pitampura received 1.5 mm rainfall, Jafarpur received 0.5 mm rainfall and Palam areas also received light rainfall.

Less Rain In July

86.8 mm of rainfall has been recorded so far in July, which is 47.6 mm less than the normal (134.4 mm). With this, the rainfall has been 35 percent less than the normal. According to IMD, the maximum temperature of Delhi on Sunday was recorded at 36.6 degrees Celsius which is two degrees Celsius more than the normal.

The minimum temperature was recorded at 26.4 degrees Celsius, which is one degree Celsius below normal. On Saturday, the maximum temperature in Delhi was recorded at 37.8 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature was 27.6 degrees Celsius.

Air Quality Remains In Moderate Category

There was a partial improvement in the air quality index in Delhi on Sunday. The air quality, still remained in the moderate category. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the air index will improve due to rainfall. Due to this, the air quality may remain in the satisfactory category for three days.
