Xander Schauffele wins 2024 Open Championship – NBC Sports Philadelphia

Xander Schauffele won the British Open on Sunday, winning his second major of the year. He produced a masterpiece at Royal Troon with a score of 6-under 65. He made up a two-stroke deficit and gave the Americans their first victory at all majors since 1982.

Schauffele won the PGA Championship at Valhalla two months ago by making a 6-foot birdie putt on the final hole. In a final round that produced great drama — nine players separated by three strokes at the start — Schauffele made it look like a nice stroll along the Irish Sea.

He played bogey-free in a strong, cold wind and made three birdies in a series of four holes early on the back nine to go from a two-stroke deficit to a lead of as many as three.

The 30-year-old from San Diego became the first player since Jordan Spieth in 2015 to win his first two majors in the same season and extended the American’s dominance on the Scottish links as the seventh Open champion in the last eight visits to Royal Troon.
