Exquisite Wood Carving Exhibition Opened at Govt. Arts Emporium Srinagar

Today, a beautiful wood carving exhibition was opened at the Government Arts Emporium Srinagar, showcasing the extraordinary craftsmanship of Ghulam Nabi Zargar, a revered master wood carver.
This event is part of the Handicrafts Department’s ‘Know Your Artisan’ initiative, which aims to showcase the exceptional talents and rich cultural heritage of Kashmiri artisans.
The two-day exhibition was jointly inaugurated by the Director of Handicrafts and Handloom Kashmir and the General Manager of Handicrafts and Handloom S&E.
Since Srinagar was included in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN) and recognized as a ‘World Craft City’ by the World Crafts Council, the Department of Handicrafts and Handloom Kashmir has been at the forefront of organizing events that celebrate the rich artistic traditions of the region. This exhibition is a testament to their continued efforts to promote and preserve Kashmir’s unique craftsmanship.
Ghulam Nabi Zargar, known for his intricate wood carvings, has dedicated his life to perfecting the art form. His work, characterized by detailed patterns and beautiful designs, has received national and international recognition.
