2026 LB Thomas Davis Jr. previews return to Notre Dame

Since my visit in April, Thomas Davis Jr.‍, has stayed in touch with Notre Dame and the 2026 North Carolina linebacker is looking forward to returning to South Bend next Thursday for Grill And Chill.

“Just continuing to build a relationship, just having a good time with the staff and just continuing to develop that relationship,” Davis said of what he’s most looking forward to in his return.

The Weddington High School star remains in contact with Irish linebackers coach Max Bullough, defensive coordinator Al Golden and assistant general manager Carter Auman.

“They’re very sincere, down to earth and as coaches they run an NFL-style defense. They’ve got guys trained and that’s what they’re going to do,” Davis said of the Irish coaches.

Davis doesn’t see himself as having to see or learn anything specific on this trip. However, he admitted it could be important to get a sense of the other major goals and commitments for 2026 that will also be present.

“Hopefully we can give the best lesson wherever I go,” he said.

He knows there will be at least one Irish candidate in town.

“I know Noah Grubbs‍ will be there,” he said of the 2026 Irish quarterback commit. “I talk to him a lot on social media. He messaged me not too long ago.”

Grubbs’ story was simple.

“Just keep looking at what I want from the school and keep visiting them,” Davis said of what Grubbs said. “Give them a chance and see where it goes and hopefully they commit and then bring other guys with them.”

Davis doesn’t yet know what other visits he will make this summer.

“Not that I know of, but I’m sure something can happen,” he added.

He hopes to return to Notre Dame for a game and is also considering possible trips to Oregon, Ohio State, Wisconsin and Texas A&M this fall.
