Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic will face each other again in the second round of the 2024 Paris Olympics. It will be the 60th competitive meeting between the two.

It’s not a fairytale ending for Adam Peaty. A shared silver medal in Paris, behind Italy’s Nicolo Martinenghi in what turned out to be a slow race that came down to pure timing at the wall.

Peaty must have thought he had won. He held off world champion Qin Haiyang, but in a thrilling final sprint he still took victory, making him, like Michael Phelps, the only man to win three consecutive gold medals at the Olympic Games in the individual events.

Disappointment of course, but don’t underestimate how the British great achieved victory from the most unlikely position after the Olympic Games in Tokyo.

Another reigning champion who is back on the Olympic podium today is Tom Daley. He will join Noah Williams in the 10m synchro later on.

One of Team GB’s leading medal contenders going into action on Monday is Tom Pidcock, the multi-talented cyclist defending his mountain bike gold. Pidcock’s Tour de France was cut short by Covid, but it’s the route he’s trying to retain his title on that has caused frustration ahead of race day in Paris…

Tom Daley will be there early to watch with the men’s synchronised diving final, while Team GB’s women Rugby Sevens also have high expectations for a medal, as they will be in action in the group stage in the afternoon.

Tom Pidcock is a rider with podium potential in cross-country mountain biking.

There will also be finals in the 200m swimming, where the British team hopes to have finalists. And of course there will be plenty more tennis to watch, including the match between Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal.
