BURLINGTON, ON

The City of Burlington’s administrative offices will be closed for the Civic Holiday on Monday, August 5. For a list of which City services and facilities will be available during the long weekend, see the chart below or visit burlington.ca.

Reminder of fireworks
Fireworks are not may be dropped off on the August Civic Holiday. According to the City OrdinanceFamily (low-risk) fireworks may only be used on Canada Day and Victoria Day. For more information on who to contact if you have a personal safety concern regarding fireworks use, visit burlington.ca/fireworks.

City service Information about closing during the holidays
Animal services The animal shelter at 2424 Industrial St. will be closed for appointments on Monday, August 5. To report an animal control emergency on a holiday, please call 905-335-7777.
Burlington Public Transportation

Burlington Transit will operate a Sunday schedule on Monday, August 5. For up-to-date bus information and schedules, visit myride.burlingtontransit.ca.

The Downtown Transit Terminal, at 430 John St., and Specialized Dispatch will be closed on Monday, August 5.

City Hall Service Burlington and the Buildings, Renovations and Permitting desk on the ground floor of City Hall at 426 Brant St. will be closed for all appointments and walk-in services on Monday, August 5.

Many service payments are available online at burlington.ca/onlineservices

For online development services, MyFiles can be used by residents who have applied for Pre-Building Approval. Check the status of Pre Building Approval applications at burlington.ca/MyFiles.

Halton Court Services – Provincial Offences Bureau The courthouse at 4085 Palladium Way will be closed on Monday, August 5.

Except during Civic holiday closures, phone payments are available at 905-637-1274, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. All in-person services are available 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Many services are also available via email at [email protected] or online at Halton Court Services. Payment of fines for provincial violations is available 24/7 at www.paytickets.ca.

Parking On Sunday, August 4 and Monday, August 5: Free parking is available in the city center, on the street, in municipal parking lots and in the parking garage (414 Locust St.).

On Saturday, August 3: Paid parking in the city center is mandatory in high-traffic parking lots (lots 1, 4, and 5) and all on-street parking meters. A three-hour limit applies to all on-street parking spaces. Free parking is available in other municipal parking lots and in the parking garage (414 Locust St.).

REMARK:

  • The Waterfront parking lots (east and west at 1286 Lakeshore Rd.) do not offer free parking on holidays
  • Parking permits are required to park on city streets overnight and for more than five hours. Visit burlington.ca/parkingexemptions
  • Paid parking is in effect on weekends only (including holidays) at Beachway Park (1100 and 991 Lakeshore Rd.) with HORN Mobile
  • Make an online reservation via Park pass to visit Lowville Park on the weekend. Reservations are free and available in three-hour time slots
Recreational programs and facilities Walk-in swimming and other walk-in recreational activities

  • Nelson Pool and Splash Park (4235 New St.), Mountainside Pool and Splash Park (2205 Mt. Forest Dr.) and LaSalle Wading Pool and Splash Park (50 North Shore Blvd. E.) will be open for swimming on Civic Day, Monday, August 5 (weather permitting)
  • Access Storage will be hosting free swimming on Saturday, August 3 from 1:05pm to 3:15pm at Tansley Woods Pool and on Monday, August 5 from 10:30am to 6pm at LaSalle Wading Pool and Splash Park (weather permitting).
  • Outdoor pools and recreational swimming are only accessible to people who want to swim, without reservations.
  • Indoor pools are not open for walk-in swimming during the Civic holiday, Monday 5 August
  • Appleby Ice Centre will be hosting a variety of drop-in skating programmes on Saturday 3rd August
  • Burlington Senior’s Center will have a variety of drop-in pickleball programs on Saturday, August 3

Mudguards

The city’s nine splash pads are located throughout the city and are free to use. To find a splash pad near you, visit burlington.ca/mudguards.

Outdoor activities
Burlington offers a wide variety of outdoor activities for you and your family to enjoy over the long weekend, including:

  • paths and multifunctional paths
  • parks and playgrounds
  • Picnic area reservations at La Salle Park (50 North Shore Blvd E.) or Hidden Valley Park (1137 Hidden Valley Rd.)

Tyandaga Golf Course is open for the season. Tee times can be booked online at tyandagagolf.com or by calling 905-336-0005, extension 2.

Play library

Our lending library has a variety of outdoor and indoor play equipment that you can borrow for free. Pick up is on Thursday and drop off is on Tuesday at Haber Community Centre (3040 Tim Dobbie Dr.). Borrow life jackets for the family for the long weekend, add some fun outdoor games to your Love My Neighbourhood event or try out a variety of play equipment that we offer.
