Jerry Seinfeld lashes out at Yankees, Giants on sports talk radio

WFAN’s Chris McMonigle made a surprise call on WFAN Tuesday night.

McMoingle filled in for the evening shift when his producer made a joke about “Seinfeld,” saying the sitcom only had three good episodes. Then the star of the show called.

“I love the show; I’m not arrogant enough to think that everyone should like what I do,” Seinfeld said. ‘I just wanted to let you know that it doesn’t bother me. I think it’s good; One out of two is fine for me. That’s all I wanted to say.”

The comedian took the opportunity to rip the Giants.

“Look, we did a 180.” Seinfeld episodes,” said Jerry from Queens. “So we made three good ones. We are like the giants. We are 3-177.”

Seinfeld then commented on his favorite team, the Mets.

“You could make a pretty good argument that this season was the most magical, not counting the two World Series wins, this was the most magical,” Seinfeld said. “Because it was a chemistry and an energy, and it was an emotional thing from guys that wasn’t supposed to be that good. I don’t know what can beat that. Is winning with Juan Soto and Shohei Ohtani as fun as this?”

“What makes you jump up and down and scream as an adult? Nothing,” Seinfeld continued. “But there’s no player worth a billion dollars who throws down his helmet like Jesse Winker. The value of that, that guy going crazy, his enthusiasm, that made it more fun than anything.

Before he finished, Seinfeld made a joke about the Yankees and their collapse in the fifth inning of Game 5 of the World Series.

“But tell me about the pain of the fifth inning,” Seinfeld asked McMonigle. ‘Tell me about that. I want to know: how did that feel as a fan?”
