Meta to challenge CCI’s ₹213 crore fine for ‘unfair’ change in WhatsApp privacy policy

A day after the Competition Commission of India (CCI) fined Meta ₹213.14 crore for “using its position of strength” to change WhatsApp’s privacy policy for 2021, the tech giant on November 19 said it would plans to appeal because it disagrees with the decision. “We do not agree with the CCI’s decision and intend to appeal.

As a reminder, the 2021 update did not change the privacy of people’s personal messages and was offered as a choice for users at the time. We also ensured that no one would have their account deleted or lose functionality of the WhatsApp service as a result of this update,” a Meta spokesperson said in a statement.

Air pollution in Delhi: Delhi Metro hits record daily ridership of 78.67 lakh on November 18 amid severe pollution

Air quality in Delhi and surrounding areas, including Noida, Ghaziabad and Gurugram, reached an “alarmingly high” level on Tuesday, with most Air Quality Index (AQI) monitoring stations recording the maximum 500 mark in the severe plus category. Maharashtra Election 2024 Live: Mumbai Metro extends service hours for election day

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who is on a two-day visit to Gujarat, on Monday evening (November 18) expressed confidence over the victory of the BJP and its allies in the Assembly elections in Maharashtra and Jharkhand.
